Bridget Nowicki, College/University Theatre Division Representative

Bridget (Sundin) Nowicki is a theatre educator and practitioner whose work spans secondary, collegiate, and community settings. She holds a BFA in Theatre from Illinois Wesleyan University, an MA in Teaching Secondary Education from National-Louis University, an MA in Theatre from San Diego State University, and a PhD in Theatre History, Dramatic Literature, and Theory from Indiana University.  From 2005 to 2012, Bridget taught curricular and extracurricular drama at Lakes Community High School, where her involvement with the ITA included producing an All-State Production and bringing a production to the IHSTF. She has also taught theatre at Indiana University and Illinois Wesleyan University, and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Illinois State University. Bridget is currently a full-time theatre faculty member at Illinois Central College and remains active in the central Illinois community theatre scene as a performer and dramaturg.  Having taught at both the high school and college levels, Bridget is especially eager to help strengthen the connection between ITA's High School and College Divisions, and to explore opportunities for closer ties between the College and Professional Divisions. Above all, she believes deeply in ITA's mission—a conviction, witnessed firsthand in her own classrooms and rehearsal halls, that theatre at every level expands hearts and minds and helps make Illinois a more conscious and compassionate place.
